Welcome to the 2021 NSJ Dive Season!
While things will be a little bit different than previous years due to Covid precautions, we are excited to be able to have a competition season this year! The Central Maryland Diving League (CMDL) and its member pools have worked hard to put together a workable schedule and we are really looking forward to being back at the pool and on the boards! The CMDL Board, together with the Dive Directors, has also put together Covid guidelines that the CMDL and each pool will be following for this competition season. If you have any questions about safety, precautions, or what we will be doing to keep divers and spectators safe, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Directors.
We anticipate that this will be another great year of diving, competition, and fun times with the NSJ community.
The NSJ Dive Team encourages fun, safety and courage. Divers compete on an age-based system with kids of all ability levels. The older divers provide great role models while younger divers provide energy and excitement. The large number of new and experienced divers provides a fun environment where all divers are continuously learning and pushing each other to new levels. In addition, these young athletes are guaranteed to build courage as they stand alone atop the diving board, not to mention the opportunity to learn some new, cool pool tricks!
The NSJ Dive Team Directors, Charity LaGow and BreeAnne Chadwick, are excited for another great dive season! There are lots of fun activities planned! If you have any questions, please contact:
• Charity LaGow (firstname.lastname@example.org)
• BreeAnne Chadwick (email@example.com)
$130.00 for each diver (Please register by Wednesday, June 2nd.)
Dive Team is open to all members (up through age 18, as of May 31, 2021) of the North St. John’s Swim and Tennis Club. Your child must be 5 years old before January 1, 2021 to register. . If within the first two weeks it appears your child does not want to dive, the registration fee will be returned minus $50, which reflects AAU and other estimated fees incurred.
While it is too early to establish our practice times for this season, practices will begin shortly after the Memorial Day weekend. While school is in session, practices will be held in the afternoon/evening. After school is out for the summer, we will have morning practices. Age groups for practice times will be determined once we know how approximately many ivers we have and the age ranges. As with last year’s non-competitive dive sessions, Covid precautions will still be in place and NSJ will be following all CDC regulations.

**New this year!
While in previous years, all dive meets have been held in the afternoon, teams now have the option of holding meets in the afternoon on a traditional schedule, or moving the meet to a morning schedule to take place instead of that day’s practice. This will help our meet attendance, since most divers already plan to be at the pool in the mornings for practice, and it has the added bonus of helping us to avoid rainouts due to afternoon thunderstorms.
This schedule change will be made on a meet-by-meet basis, as the arrangement must be made between each of the two teams competing; the schedule is also subject to change due to any forecasted weather issues. The directors will be in contact with each of the opposing teams as soon as is feasible, and we will keep you updated as soon as we have any information to share.
