In order to help determine which level to sign your swimmer up for, here are the skills they will be working on in each level of swim lessons:

Level 1 (Preschool)

  • Blow Bubbles/Fully Submerge Face
  • Retrieve object from bottom of the 3 ft
  • Jump into 3 ft without assistance
  • Jump into 5 ft with assistance
  • Front float
  • Back float
  • Front glide
  • Back glide
  • Kick with kickboard
  • Push off of the wall and swim 15 ft

Level 2 (Beginner)

  • Front glide with kick
  • Back glide with kick
  • Rhythmic/rotary breathing
  • 1 lap front crawl/freestyle
  • ½ lap Backstroke
  • ½ lap Elementary Backstroke
  • Jump into 5 ft and swim
  • Retrieve object from bottom of 5 ft

Level 3 (Advanced Beginner)

  • 1 lap Freestyle with rhythmic/rotary breathing
  • 2 laps Freestyle/front crawl
  • 1 lap Backstroke
  • 1 lap Elementary Backstroke
  • 1 lap Breaststroke kick (with kickboard)
  • Introduction of butterfly kick
  • Shallow Dive (in 5 ft)
  • Tread water for 1 minute
  • Retrieve multiple objects from bottom of 5 ft

Level 4 (Intermediate)

  • 2 laps Freestyle with rhythmic/rotary breathing
  • 2 laps Backstroke
  • 1 lap Elementary Backstroke
  • 1 lap Breaststroke
  • ½ lap Butterfly
  • Shallow dive (5 ft)
  • Tread water for 1.5 minutes
  • Retrieve multiple objects from bottom of 5 ft

 Level 5 (Advanced)

  • 4 laps Freestyle with rhythmic/rotary breathing
  • 2 laps Backstroke
  • Freestyle Flipturn
  • Backstroke Flipturn
  • 2 laps Breaststroke
  • 1 lap Butterfly
  • Tread water for 2 minutes
  • Swim continuously for 5 minutes (any combination/choice of strokes)
